According to the National Institute of Health, "There are different types of uterine cancer. The most common type starts in the endometrium, the lining of the uterus. This type of cancer is sometimes called endometrial cancer. "
The NIH lists the symptoms of uterine cancer as:
Unusual vaginal bleeding or discharge
Trouble urinating
Pelvic pain
Pain during intercourse
MedlinePlus.com reports that, "Endometrial cancer is the most common type of uterine cancer. Although the exact cause of endometrial cancer is unknown, increased levels of estrogen appear to play a role. Estrogen helps stimulate the buildup of the lining of the uterus. Studies have shown that high levels of estrogen in animals results in excessive endometrial growth and cancer."
The WomensHealth.gov website states that, "Some women who get uterine cancer have certain risk factors, or things in their life that cause them to have a higher chance of getting this disease. But there are women who get uterine cancer who do not have any of these high risk factors."
Usually, this cancer of the uterus occurs after menopause.
The good news is that this particular kind of cancer is often found early and can be treated successfully. Of course, that usually means surgery (removal of the uterus), but it does work.
One of the best ways to help prevent this type of cancer is to eat less fatty foods and increase the intake of fruits.
