This herbal guide will help you understand what each herb is known to help with and a little of how it works.

Ginseng has a tonic and strengthening value and is used in treatment of various diseases of the central nervous system, for various neuroses, for insomnia and impotence. It improves the activity of the cardiovascular system. Excellent for low blood pressure. Increases the capillary circulation of the brain and also helps with nervous exhaustion. Useful for chest troubles, colds stomach and lungs. In many places ginseng is used to prolong youth and life. The root is used.

Garlic is one of the few herbs that have universal recognition and uses. It stimulates the activity of the digestive organs. It is used to emulsify the cholesterol and loosen it from the arterial walls. Proven useful in asthma and whooping cough, it is also valuable in intestinal infections. Garlic clears blood system of various deposits, reduces high blood pressure, clears stomach, brings positive results at operates at spasms of a brain. Fill up 1/3 of bottle with cut or crushed garlic, add vodka or 70% alcohol and let stand for 14 days, shaking bottle every day. Take 5 drops 3 times a day before meal with 1 tsp of water.

Gentian Root is an excellent tonic and blood purifier. Use to treat liver, worms, fever and colds. It is also very effective for snake bites due to it’s equality with quinine.

Ginger is useful in all painful spasms of the bowels and stomach. Taken hot, it is excellent for suppressed menstruation. It works as a catalyst for the whole part of a body from the pelvic down.

Golden Seal Root - A powerful agent used in treating ulcers, diphtheria, tonsillitis and spinal meningitis. It is one of the best substitutes for quinine. It acts as an insulin.

Gotu Kola contains remarkable rejuvenating properties. It is known as "The Secret of Perpetual Youth" as it strengthens the heart, memory and brain.

Hawthorn is known as the heart herb and used for different heart conditions as it helps to dilate the coronary blood vessels in a mild way and restore the heart muscle wall. It also used for insomnia in heart patients, for the beginning of hypertension and for atherosclerosis. It lowers excitability of the central nervous system, improves blood circulation of the brain and reduces blood pressure and shortness of breath. Put 10 g of hawthorn leaves and flowers in 100 g of vodka and let stand for 10 days. Filter and take 20-30 drops with water 3 times a day 30 min before meal. Continue for 20-30 days.

Hops are used to treat insomnia as they have remarkable relaxing effect on the central nervous system. Combine crushed hops with vodka (1:4) and keep in dark place for 2 weeks. Filter and take 5 drops with 1 tbsp of water before meal twice a day. Second time should be at night time before going to bed. Hops are also effective for anemia and restoring the appetite.

Henna is effective treatment for the liver and skin infections. Use the leaves and root.

Horsetail contains a great deal of silica, which helps keep the elasticity in the skin. Also an effective diuretic and helps with kidney stones.

Hydrangea - The greatest use for hydrangea is for treating enlarged prostate glands. It is also effective for urinary infections like cystitis, including stones. Use dried roots, rhizomes.

Hyssop is a strong body cleanser and also effective for nervousness and recovering from colds.

Kelp is not an herb, but it deserves to be mentioned here because it possesses a healing properties. Kelp is excellent for the thyroid gland and goiters. Has a remedial and normalizing action on the sensory nerves. Good for nails and hair and cleanses radiation from the body.

Lilac can be used for malaria. Put 100 g of fresh leaves in 1 L of vodka and keep in dark for 14 days. At malaria take 1 tsp before fit (day 1), 1 tsp during fit (day 2) and 1 tsp after fit (day 3). To treat rheumatism and gout and to reduce salt deposits in joints take 30-50 drops 3 times a day before meal. Continue for 3 months. This tincture can also be used for compresses.

Lavender is a beautiful herb and is widely used. Many do not realize that it is an effective treatment for headaches related to stress. It also good for depression. Flowers are the part to use.

Licorice is a natural cortisone. It is used for hypoglycemia, adrenal glands and stress. Also for coughs and chest complaints, gastric ulcers and throat conditions.

Lobelia is the most powerful relaxant. Reduces palpitations of the heart. Strengthens muscle action. Fine treatment for fevers, pneumonia, meningitis, pleurisy, hepatitis and peritonitis.

Motherwort is used for rapid beating of the heart, neurosis, early stages of hypertension, reduces shortness of breath. Keep 20 g of crushed leaves in 100 g of 70% alcohol for 7-17 days, filter and take 30-40 drops 3-4 times a day.

Marshmallow is excellent to bathe sore and inflamed eyes. Also good for lung trouble, hoarseness, catarrh, diarrhea and dysentery and all kidney diseases. Also good for a vaginal douche.

Myrrh Gum is valuable for bronchial and lung diseases. Excellent for pyorrhea. Removes halitosis or bad breath when taken internally. Excellent remedy for ulcers, piles and hemorrhoids.
