Fibromyalgia Herbal Remedies

What is fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a complex but common chronic pain disorder affecting people physically, socially and mentally. It is a syndrome and not considered to be a disease. A disease is a medical condition that has a specific cause or causes and recognizable symptoms and signs. A syndrome, on the other hand, is a collection of symptoms, signs and medical problems that seem to occur together, but they are not related to any identifiable, specific cause.

Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

The main symptom of fibromyalgia is chronic widespread body pain. Most people with this syndrome also experience fatigue that is moderate to severe, sleep disturbances, sensitivity to light, touch and sound, and cognitive difficulties. Many people may also experience a variety of other symptoms as well as overlapping conditions such as lupus, irritable bowel syndrome and arthritis.

Causes of Fibromyalgia

The origins and causes of fibromyalgia are not known to the medical world and many people have been diagnosed as having psychiatric problems. However some medical people are able to blame it on a sleep disorder as well as some other things, but they can only treat your symptoms with future treatments and drugs caused by adverse side effects. For every action, you will always get an effect of reaction.

Studies conclude that a reduction of circulation into the muscle cells cause harm to the cell's energy producing mechanism. This will cause a deficiency of energy in the body's muscle tissue. Therefore, when there is not enough oxygen supplied to the cells along with other nutrients, there is a shortage and imbalance of other important bio-chemicals. The body then robs protein from the muscles and converts it to glucose in order to obtain energy. This, in turn, causes tissue breakdown that result in the pains and aches that are associated with fibromyalgia.

How can Herbal Remedies Alleviate Symptoms of Fibromyalgia?

There are many herbal remedies to relieve the pain and inflammation that people who have fibromyalgia suffer from. Ginger comes highly recommended by Dr. Weil. Cautions about Herbal Remedies

When you use herbal remedies to treat fibromyalgia as well as other illnesses, you have to use caution. Herbal remedies can also cause dangerous side effects. They can often be quite potent, and should not be flippantly. When using barks, herbs and berries only choose the remedy which closely matches the symptoms you have. Use only the lowest potency extracts of barks, herbs and berries. A higher potency could cause dangerous side effects.
