Fever TreatmentHome and herbal remedies for feverDo you need a fever treatment? Normal body temperature varies by person, age, activity, and time of day. The average normal body temperature is 98.6°F (37°C). Fever is not an illness. Far from being an enemy, it is an important part of the body's defense against infection. Many infants and children develop high fevers with minor viral illnesses. While a fever signals to us that a battle might be going on in the body, the fever is fighting for the person, not against. (MedlinePlus) Do not rush to bring down a high temperature as long as it does not become a fever (38.5 °C) It might sound strange but a high temperature actually is our friend. It is the way our body fights an illness using its natural abilities. For those of us who can’t endure a temperature at all or if it is too high here are a few remedies that can be used: Drink as much water mixed with lemon juice as possible. 2 grated raw potatoes mix with 1 tbsp of vinegar. Spread the mix on a peace of cloth and place it on your forehead. Change compress when it gets warm. Soak knee high socks in a mix of 2/3 of cold water and 1/3 of vinegar. Squeeze them out, put them on and wrap around with something warm and dry. Wet 4 pieces of cloth in very hot water and place them on armpits and in a groin area. Repeat few times. Combine 2 tbsp of dried raspberries, 4 tbsp of coltsfoot leaves, 3 tbsp of plantain and 2 tbsp of origanum. Add 2 cups of boiling water, steep for 1 hour, filter and drink. Prepare a mix of peppermint (1 part), elder flowers (1 part), and linden flowers (1 part). In 2 cups of boiling water boil 2 tbsp of the mix for 5 min. Steep, filter and drink like tea.
